Some people like to hunt because they have developed a passion for it, while there are some others that love to hunt because they earn a lot of money through competitions.

If you are new to hunting or maybe not, then I guess when you stumbled upon black powder hunting on the internet, you were confused for a second there, but you need to know that it practically means that you will get to hunt using black powder. Of course, when you will delve into this type of hunting, you should know that there are many accessories you will need to have carried with you and even though you will have them shoved in a big bag, you still need to be very well organized.

Forget about everything that you know and it is related to long range hunting, for the black powder will force you to hunt only from close proximity of your prey and this will not be imposed by the weakness of the black powder to actually be an effective killer, but because you don’t have a scope and you cannot really see the prey but when it is very close to you.

Ghost Hunting At Castle Keep, Newcastle With Most Haunted’s Chris Conway – 15th October

As seen on Most Haunted! Come and join Tvs’ Livings popular Medium Chris Conway at this amazing castle in the centre of Newcastle. With the amount of history that’s taken place within castle keeps walls, you’d expect a fair few ghost stories here. although the Ghosts of Castle Keep are not well documented. This is one reason why our team are so excited to be hosting an investigation here as it should be very interesting to see what we pick up.

It is known that there have been many sightings and apparitions have been seen on many occasions by visitors. There has also been poltergeist activity here where things have been thrown around the room and small objects such as coins have been thrown at guests during the day.

Eerie voices and ghostly footsteps have been heard echoing through the corridors. Tapping and scratching on the walls has been heard frequently. The laughter of children has been heard in the corridors and the sobbing of a woman has been heard in an area which is thought to have been the drawing room. The clinking of armour has also been heard as has the movement of chains.

One of the ghost stories was reported quite recently from a man who was visiting. He was ascending a flight of stone stairs near the mezzanine chamber, when he physically bumped into someone on the stairs. Turning back to apologize, he realized no one was there… as you can imagine he left the building immediately!

The great hall has such an atmosphere, many people have claimed to have seen a teenage girl in pre-Victorian probably Edwardian – style of dress moving quickly around the room. Also, in the Galleries that overlook the Great Hall, eye-witnessed have seen a woman in her mid-twenties, with Elizabethan dress and even heard the rustling of her gown.

It’s often reported that the Mezzanine Chamber is the most terrifying room in the building. People complain of oppressive nausea and ghostly whispers. The Mezzanine Chamber was in fact a holding cell for people to be taken away an executed, so it’s hardly surprising that this phenomena is reported, given the amount of emotional torment that’s taken place within the room.

Lets hope Newcastle Keep lives up to its newly found reputation as being very haunted, for visit on the 15th October 2011.

On a recent ghost hunting night, the activity we encountered was amazing, read this article if you dare

The ghost hunting began in the dark atmospheric cellars, many ghost hunters complained of being touched and having their hair or arms tugged, but what shocked the group more was the sudden sound of approaching footsteps down the empty corridor. The infra red sensors were set off and reset on numerous occassions in the eerie dark cellars in this the first of many frightening vigils.

An unexplained tapping noise was heard too in the cold cellars, also many noticeable black shadows that fleeted in and out of the cellars that most ghost hunters witnessed could not be explained. The K2 meter was also inexplicably interferred with by the spirit world, spiking on a regular basis when requested too. As we ventured off into our smaller groups what surprises would enlighten us and frighten us from the unseen ghostly world of Knottingley Town Hall.

In the dance room, one group was treated to an entertaining display of table tipping by the former inhabitants of the building, the sight of this shocked both Annette and Pauline as the table literally danced around the room to the sound of music from an iphone which amazed all the ghost hunters in the room.

In the Main Hall, our ghost hunters Lee, Jenny and Pauline were shocked to hear the sound of whistling coming from a vacant area of the Main Hall. When we called out for the ghostly occupants to pour us a drink, the sound of drinking glasses tapping against each other was then heard from behind the security shutters of the bar room.

In a later vigil in the cellar, the infra red motion sensors were set off on numerous occasions, even in the full gaze of the stunned ghost hunters, Michelle, Emma and Joanne who were there investigating as to why the alarm had sounded in the first place, nothing untoward was found to have set the alarms off, was this the actions of spectral beings from the spirit world, toying with our equipment.

Glass divination was recorded in many of the vigils, and some aggressive banging and tapping was also heard when calling out to the ghostly inhabitants to communicate with our ghost hunters.

I have seen many things you could call paranormal, supernatural or words to that effect. My aim is to give examples of life after death, not to shoe horn anyone, or brain wash them into believing what I tell them. I want to bring evidence that is built on excellent foundations, not to be laughed at or debunked, I’d like to bring my beliefs into the public domain , so that they can debated maybe disproved of, but as long as I can give people some food for thought, then I can say that I have being successful in my goal.

Ghost Hunting At The Extremely Haunted Lincoln Gaol, With Simply Ghost Nights. – 22nd October

Lincoln Gaol, has been unused for over 130 years and this Georgian penitentiary once followed a severe system of isolation and separation which drove many unfortunate criminals to insanity. Come join Simply Ghost Nights as we explore the only existing prison chapel of its kind which forced the hooded convicts into separate wooden pews where the convict could see nothing apart from the coffin (placed to remind them how close to death they are) on the way in and the preacher throughout his long session in a pew repenting his sins.

In 1878 the system was discredited and the inmates were transferred to the new jail in the eastern outskirts of Lincoln, however what was left behind is now said to house ghostly apparitions, eerie voices and dramatic cold spots.

From the sounds of footsteps, slamming doors and disembodied voices to a figure shaped mist and woman in Victorian dress- do the souls of the once incarcerated and condemned remain captive and will they choose to make contact?

The Gaol was built in 1787 and extended in 1847. It has been used as a film location for many TV programmes including Ghost hunting with the Happy Mondays. At the age of 54 William Marwood persuaded the governor of Lincoln Castle Gaol to allow him to conduct an execution. William Frederick Horry was the first person to hang using the “long drop” technique of hanging on 1 April 1872

The sounds of footsteps, slamming doors and disembodied voices have been heard; a woman in Victorian dress and a figure shaped mist have been seen. Slamming doors have been heard as well as bright lights from darkened cells. Feelings of being touched and actual apparitions are all previous reports from this eerie old prison.

Strange unexplained lights have also been reported on a previous visit to Lincoln Gaol, a group of ghost hunters stood in disbelief as an empty cell lit up as though a torch was on in the room, on further inspection of the cell it was found that there was anyway possible for light to come from the cell, what caused this strange eerie light?

Why not join the Simply Ghost Nights team as we attempt to contact the former inmates to try and learn their fate.

Ghost Hunting At The Golden Fleece, York England, With Simply Ghost Nights, 6th August 2011

Once again we must thank Stephanie from the Golden Fleece for all her help in making the event run so smoothly and professionally. It had been sometime since the Simply Ghost night’s team had visited The Golden Fleece, and on our last visit there we had been royally entertained by the spirit world, would the spirit world once again entertain us with their activity, in a nutshell yes. This was by far the most active occasion we had witnessed at The Golden fleece; such was the amount of phenomena we saw.

This only highlights the fact the more positive energy a group can create the more chance that the spirit world will interact, and entertain that group. This was emphasised when a brave group were attempting an ouija board experiment in a bedroom when they made ghostly contract with a spirit called Fred, this incident shocked Kimberley, Joy, and Susanna. Fred informed the group that he had passed over at the age of fifty in 1815, and that his wife had been called Helen and he also mentioned the ghostly presence of John and Kath that were also in the room.

In the same room the group were treated to the table tapping and banging to the whole groups amazement. In another vigil in this most haunted of buildings, a group of ghost hunters stood mouths wide opened after a packet of sweets were placed on the table, with a torch on the table too, and the group asked for the spirits to move the torch and they could in return have a ‘sweetie’. After a short time the torch did indeed begin to move and the group gave the obliging spirit an around of applause.

Whilst taking part in an ouija board experiment a different group of ghost hunters unbeknown to them made contact with Fred, the spirit who had made ghostly communication with the a group earlier on the event. This coincidence amazed Jill, Mark and David the fact that a spirit could make contact on the table to different groups without either group knowing which spirit had communicated with the previous group.

A group of paranormal investigators were so excited when the table moved to and fro in a table tipping experiment on request, and a group were staggered when listening to the Franks box when three people in the group all clearly heard their own names called out from the Franks box itself. Could this be random names heard from the Franks box, however when you specifically call out for your own name and ask the ghostly inhabitants of the Golden Fleece to repeat them back, and then you clearly hear your own name, then all that can be added is that the Franks box is truly a transmitter to another plane that is not our own.

As we spoke at the end of the night, we all agreed that the Golden Fleece did indeed warrant another investigation by the Simply Ghost nights team .

Ghost Hunting At Doncaster Air Museum, Yorkshire With Simply Ghost Nights 20th August 2011

Yet again we have to say a huge thank you to both Alan and Billy from the Doncaster Air Museum for all their assistance in ensuring that the event ran smoothly and professionally. The Doncaster Air Museum is definitely one of the Simply Ghost Nights team favourite venues for spirit activity, the team have witnessed full bodied apparitions, disembodied arms waving to them, and a variety of other activity, would this visit reach those dizzy heights of our previous visits to the Doncaster Air Museum. In a nutshell ‘yes’, our latest visit surpassed all of our expectations on what we were expecting.

In the opening group vigil Martin a first time ghost hunter witnessed to his amazement a figure of a man outside hangar 21 peering through a window and then disappear in front of his bewildered eyes, and Clair, Beth, James all declared that they had heard footsteps from the empty corridor too, this opening gambit of the night definitely got the groups ghost hunting juices flowing, and in earnest we then split up into smaller groups in our quest for spirit communication with bated breath.

In the Main hangar Rosey and a group of brave ghost hunters were conducting a séance when they suddenly heard the sound of stones been thrown in the eerie hangar, and on further investigation of which direction the stones were coming from Stephen, Daz and Karen were even more staggered when a stone literally rolled in front of them which frightened Jacky to the core.

In hangar 19 all groups commented on how active the room was, in one vigil the heavy main door flew open to the astonishment of Olwyn, Susan and Wynn who witnessed it, with a still night and no breeze around this incident showed the strength that the spirit world could display to our ghost hunters. In an ouija board experiment in hangar 19 one group were entertained by the spectral resident of Doncaster Air Museum called Frank, who claimed to have come from Newcastle originally and had served in Doncaster during the second world war. Frank informed the group via the ouija board that he had been a radio operator in the war.

During an attempt at spirit communication using the Franks box, a group of ghost hunters looked in disbelief as they in turn called their names out and asked the spirits to copy, and to their amazement they duly obliged, when Jez called out his name, the group heard ‘Jez’ almost immediately, Daz called his name out the identical response happened again his name was heard from the Franks box. This had the group enthralled so much so that when Stuarts name was called out too it absolutely left the all stunned.

In hangar 21 there was reports of table tipping from some of the vigils and in a ouija board experiment the spirit of a former cleaner called Alice at the Air Museum made her presence known to the group, and informed the group that when she was alive on the earth plane she absolutely loved her job, and at about the same time the group all could smell lavender and a smell similar to cleaning products. When asked if this was Alice making her presence known with the flowery aroma the glass moved to ‘yes’ to the astonishment of those witnessed it.

Another group of ghost hunters were taken a back in hangar 21 when asking out for spirit communication by way of the K2 meter when the green light would spike upto red on request, this event carried on for some time as far as to astound the group altogether.

As our ghost hunting time was coming to an end, our brave ghost hunters concluded that indeed the spectral occupants of the Doncaster Air Museum had yet again provided all of us with so much ghostly activity. The team cannot wait for our return to the Doncaster Air Museum in 2012.

As we said our goodbyes and also said a big thank you to Alan, Billy and the spirit world for their assistance in providing another successful Simply Ghost Night. Finally we cannot thank Mel and Simon enough for their help and support in running the event and also a special mention must be made to Steven and Jo, Simply Ghost Nights newest team members who both showed professionalism and consideration to our ghost hunters during the course of the event and also assisted in the smooth running of the night.

Ghost Hunting on Friday the 13th with Simply Ghost Nights, at Warmsworth Hall, Doncaster, Yorkshire

The Simply Ghost Nights team return to Warmsworth Hall on the dreaded Friday the 13th of May, for a ghost hunting event at this most haunted of location, this venue as provided some of the most significant paranormal activity that the Simply Ghost Nights team has witnessed this very popular venue of Warmsworth Hall in Doncaster, which has become a firm favourite with ghost hunters in the UK. It is said some of the staff at the nearby hotel are so afraid to step into the building at night, they simply hand over the keys at the end of their shift, and quickly return to the comfort and safety of the nearby hotel.

On our previous visit to this remarkable building the reported activity we collected was astounding such as during one amazing vigil a group were all sat around a table with everyone’s hands clearly visible above the table, they then heard the distinct sound of something been unscrewed from under the table, upon checking the table after the vigil the group were astounded, to see that all the screws had indeed been unscrewed and were hanging on by their threads.

In another vigil that left so many ghost hunters speechless, was when one of the groups was investigating one of the downstairs rooms. The group were using one of the Frank boxes (ghost box) while calling out, while at the same time pointing the thermal gun at the motion sensor in trying to tempt spirit activity, but what happened next put shivers down the whole group. On calling out “can you see the red light”, which was from the thermal gun, a disembodied voice came through from the Franks box and said, “yes it’s pretty”. All the group that heard that voice, will never forget what they heard that night.

The Simply Ghost Nights team are literally counting the days until our return to participate in a ghost hunt at Warmsworth Hall, Doncaster, Yorkshire. This location is fast becoming a regular on the ghost hunting calendar and is definetly one of the Simply Ghost Nights favourite, due to it’s fantastic setting and paranormal activity.

Simply Ghost Nights offers a unique event package, a ghost hunting event whether it’s for a corporate function, or for individuals. Simply Ghost Nights is at the fore front of providing a wealth of experience and all the latest ghost hunting equipment for their ghost hunters to use

Ghost Hunting – Get Started Guide

Ghost hunting has become very popular lately because of the new shows on TV like Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Most Haunted and Paranormal State. These shows all have the same purpose: Go into a house or building where paranormal experiences have been felt or documented and find evidence to accept or reject the idea of a real ghost. Evidence of a actual haunting is very hard to prove. The actual experiences felt by the ghost hunter cannot be fully felt by the person watching on TV. There is a huge range of personal emotions felt by these ghost hunters like fear, anxiety, illness, coldness and the whole idea that what they are feeling cannot be felt by others. You must actually experience a ghost hunt first hand for yourself to experience all there is to know. Although it is possible to go hunting for ghosts without any special equipment, it is usually in your best interest to bring some of the essential gear.

Video camera – This is essential to document and record all the events as they are unfolding. More than one camera would be ideal. If you go with a friend you can each hold a camera and record each other and surrounding events.

Digital camera – Try to take lots of still shots when you feel something is near you even if nothing is visible to you. The camera often captures what you cannot see.

Pen and paper – Make sure you record what you see and when it happened on paper. Sometimes these hunts last until the wee hours of the morning and becomes hard to remember specific times and events if you don’t write them down when they happen.

EMF meter – This reads the fluctuation in electromagnetic fields. Make sure you take reading of all areas before you begin your hunt. These fluctuations can actually be the reason why people experience feelings of “someone watching them” or feelings of fear or euphoria. Tests have been shown that high electromagnetic fields in the home can actually produce these symptoms in residents living in the home. Now if you can rule out previous high levels then fluctuations are good evidence of something else in the area.

Don’t go alone – Who knows what could happen all alone in a dark building.
